Who doesn't like a deal (particularly on electronics)?

Often, we are asked if there is a more opportune time of the year than another to get a deal on electronics?

Really there isn't a simple answer to this as sales, discounts and promotions can (and do) happen at almost any time of year.

But having said that, there is one window of time that has a tendency to be a bit more fiscally advantageous than others at least when it comes to electronics.

March.

March is that transitory window of time that that typically sits directly between most manufacturers previous years inventory and technology and their upcoming years new inventory and technology.

So, it is during this time period that you will often still have access to the previous year’s equipment, which has a tendency to be less expensive.

As to why is it less expensive, there are two reasons.

Reason #1 - Like most things, often electronics increase in price over time. So, the 75-inch television you’re looking at in 2022 will often be more expensive in 2023 due to inflation, new features, technology and so on.

Reason #2 - It is often during this transitory window that manufacturers (and even retailers) will offer reduced pricing or other incentives to get the old inventory out the door.

Another nice thing about March (for deal hunters anyways) is that there is usually still a good supply of last year’s equipment to choose from.

So, what is the downside? (There is always a downside to everything).

The downside to shopping in March is that often the current new and upcoming years electronics won’t have arrived yet, so you are looking at last year’s gear. Often after buying last year’s product, they will come out with something new (and awesome) that you missed out on.

But if you are one of those people whose drive to find a deal outweighs your desire to have the newest, latest and greatest March can be a great time to buy electronics.
